- Backblaze: Backing Up Your Files Online (8)
- cooper: I am bad about this and have lost a lot of files, everything on my last computer as it conked out all of a sudden in February and tool most files with it as the only things I backed up were academic files. I’m going to check this out.
- Jagad Guru Chris Butler: Hello Dale, thanks a lot for the info. I actually just ordered an external hard drive the other day for back up…but I’ll look into Backblaze as well as Synctoy and see if they’ll work for my needs.
- Billy: Cool, Dale! Let us know if you have any more questions.
- Dale: Billy, Just letting you know that I tried the restore several times again this evening, and it worked fine — the download had the correct extension. I’ve updated the post to remove references to the error. Thanks! Dale
- Dale: Billy, Thanks for coming by and commenting on my article about Backblaze. I definitely like the service; it’s still crunching away on my initial backup and is doing a great job. I’ll try the restore again, document the steps, and...
- Site Updates!! WordPress 2.6 (2)
- Dale: Ann, Thank you very much; I’m glad my article was helpful. The new version of WordPress is so much better than 2.0.2 — and once you get beyond that first Yahoo! upgrade, subsequent upgrades go much more smoothly. It would have...
- ann wood: Thank you- I needed to upgrade from 2.0.2 on yahoo as well and was terrified of the auto upgrade plugin but your info was great and I did it this morning with little difficulty.
- Change Your WordPress Admin Password! (18)
- Rod: No problem. That’s the downside of using plugins, I guess - they can interact in unforeseen ways. I don’t really have a take on the security angle at this point - it’s not something I’ve looked into. There’s...
- Dale: Rod, Thanks for letting me know about this; I didn’t realize it was happening. The first of the two subscribe checkboxes was provided by the Brian’s Threaded Comments plugin, and the second one by the Subscribe to Comments...
- Dale: Rod, That’s a good question. The password I was using at the time wasn’t too complex, so I just assumed some password-cracking tool figured it out. However, I spoke with Yahoo! hosting support about it, too, and their take was...
- Rod: PS: when leaving my comment, I was presented with 2 “subscribe to comments” checkboxes. Wasn’t sure which one to use, so I went for the first one. Now that the page has refreshed, the second one has been replaced by the...
- Rod: Wow, this is pretty scary. I can understand how they could do this IF they had your WP password, but the question is, how did they get hold of it? Fortunately the attack was relatively benign in this case, in the sense they left your site...
- Another WordPress Release: Version 2.6.2 (1)
- Rod: Oh hey, I hadn’t noticed - thanks for the heads up.

- Lisa Bennett: We just released a new plugin that allows you to add interactive video capabilities to your blog! Enhance your blog with both basic and advanced video capabilities. Upload/ record/import videos directly to your post, edit and remix...
- A Preview of Coming Attractions (and One Last Plugin) (2)
- Dale: Hey, Cooper, thanks. I checked out the Milo theme on your site, it looks great. Bye for now….
- cooper: I’m starting up again next week so my time as always willbe spurtish. it’s looking good around here. I instituted one of Millo’ themes, which still needs some adjustment so we’ll see. I am glad to see you writing...
- Sitemeter takes down the internet… UPDATED (4)
- Dale: Hi, Daniel. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think you can filter out certain sites or IP addresses by going to the “Analytics Settings” page then clicking “Filter Manager” just underneath and to the right of your...
- Daniel J. Pritchett: “I won’t be using SiteMeter on this site any longer. I’ve switched to Google Analytics.” I use both, SiteMeter for the up to the minute results and Google for the really good analyses. Also I haven’t yet...

- Dale: Hi, Rod … you’re welcomed…. I’ve added you to my network also. Thanks, Dale
- Dale: Cooper, Obviously I agree … Milo’s themes are great! What kind of trouble were you having? I tried out 20-30 of them before deciding on the two I’m using, so maybe I can help. I also downloaded the themes from her site directly; I...
- Rod: Thanks for the link, Dale. I’ve added you to my network on delicious.
- cooper: I love milo’s themes by the way I’ve tired a few just this past week but for some reasons my wordpress installation always has issues with them.
- Some Thoughts On WordPress 2.6 (and Plugins Galore) - Part Two (4)
- Dale: Hi, Rod, and thanks for coming by. I read your media manager tutorial; very well done. I’m writing a new post to mention a couple more (!!) plugins I’ve added, and will also link to what you wrote. Bye for now, Dale
- Rod: That’s a good list - I use many of them myself, although hadn’t heard about the “no self pings” one - I’ll certainly check it out. A word about the media manager: I’ve just finished writing up a tutorial at...
