I agree with you on &quot;Rudi Volti&quot; ... also thought it sounded like an actor&#039;s name from the silent film era. With all due respect to Professor Volti, of course....

As it turns out, I&#039;m going to be reading (that is, unraveling and deciphering) McLuhan&#039;s &quot;Understanding Media&quot; for the class, so keep an eye out for more posts on this subject after a while.

Thanks for unearthing the Rudi Volti quote (does that sound like a pen name, or what?!).

I suppose we should think about the phrase &#039;linear thinking&#039; as in relation to order or orderly progression, but neither logical nor illogical, with no implied value.  Still, I&#039;ll stand by my assertion that many use the term as a synonym for logical progression.
